ND Dept of Health Volunteer Assignments
Welcome to the North Dakota Public Health Emergency Volunteer Reserve/Medical Reserve Corps (PHEVR/MRC) assignment and resources website.
There are several documents to help you understand what is expected of you as a volunteer as well as help you prepare for a deployment. To access the documents click on the bold phrase describing each document. The standard operating procedures document explains the purpose and overall mission of PHEVR/MRC as well as the procedure that will be used to contact you in an actual emergency. The Code of Conduct outlines what is expected of you as a PHEVR/MRC volunteer. Long before an emergency occurs, you should use the personal stress management tool to help you identify signs of stress that are specific to you. After completing the form, discuss it with a close friend or family member to elicit their help in your over-all stress management plan.
Deployment involves being away from your family, and it’s only natural that you would be concerned about their welfare. The family care plan addresses issues in advance so that you can be confident your family will continue running smoothly when you are deployed. Start having those conversations now and review them before leaving on a deployment mission.
Each deployment will be different, with different living and working conditions, but the deployment checklist identifies some basic guidelines to help you identify what to bring with you when you are deployed. In an actual emergency, this site will also contain your assignment information, such as where to report and who to contact.
Remember, deployment to any given event is not mandatory; you can choose whether or not you are available to volunteer. If your offer to assist is accepted, you will receive 2 HAN messages- one asking if you are available and the second notifying you that your offer of assistance is accepted. You are not deployed unless you receive both messages.
